Summary

Samaritan’s Purse is responding to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those effected by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.We are seeking a WASH Program Coordinator. As the WASH Program Coordinator, you have the opportunity to be responsible for the implementation and coordination of water and sanitation projects on behalf of Samaritan’s Purse in your assigned area in the Bahamas. You will assist the WASH Program Manager as a point of contact for subcontractors and workers who are building WASH infrastructure and will advise leadership and staff on accepted local practices and rules. Will you join us in reaching out to those in the Bahamas with the hope of Jesus Christ?

A day in the life of a WASH Program Coordinator:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and then we join together to pray for one another, our staff and volunteers serving around the globe. 

In the role of WASH Program Coordinator, you will:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Assist with the identification and design of new WASH programming, including implementation of water, hygiene and sanitation projects
  • Coordinate procurement and delivery of materials with the Samaritan's Purse logistics team and advise on contract negotiation
  • Supervise subcontractors and employees/temporary laborers to ensure quality and design standards are met
  • Train staff on the best way to implement a project (i.e. subcontracting, direct procurement, cash for work, etc.)
  • Report activities to leadership and the communications and program development officer as appropriate
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with a degree in engineering or civil engineering or water resources management; 1-2 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience designing and installing water networks, wells and septic tanks
  • Strong knowledge of potable water systems and technologies, various sanitation interventions, and community hygiene training          
  • Flexibility, adaptability and ability to work and communicate with a diverse team in a pressured environment
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Previous international experience required
  • Fluency in English (required)
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required)
