As a WASH Program Coordinator, you will be given the opportunity to be responsible for supporting WASH interventions by specifically assisting with a project focused on providing the logistical support needed to repair the national water system and hygiene training in Dominica. This includes, but not limited to, recruitment and training of team staff, project implementation and monitoring, evaluation, and project reporting.

The job:

  • Work with the Program Manager to oversee day-to-day technical implementation of a WASH project.
  • Provide logistics support to the national water system company in order to support rebuilding the national water system.
  • Liaise with relevant government and donor representatives
  • Represent Samaritan's Purse in WASH working group coordination meetings and other relevant networks with WASH partners in Dominica.
  • Mobilize and monitor developed team.
  • Ensure accountability, adequate reporting and grant compliance.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
  • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers.
  • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.
  • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff.

The requirements:

  • Masters in Civil, Environmental or Water Engineering/Public Health or another relevant degree preferred; 2 to 3 years’ of relevant water management experience in developing countries; related work experience in disaster context.
  • Strong knowledge of potable water systems and technologies, various sanitation interventions, and community hygiene training.           
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.   
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people of different educational, linguistic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.                      
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Previous international experience required.
  • Fluent spoken and written English required.
  • Strong networking, leadership, and interpersonal skills required.

Samaritan's Purse Mission Statement:
