Summary

When victims of war, poverty, disaster, disease and famine cry out for help, Samaritan’s Purse is often the first to respond. The International Projects Department of Samaritan’s Purse responds by meeting physical and spiritual needs in the name of Jesus.  We are seeking a Protection Program Manager who will be based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.  The work you will do as Protection Program Manager, alongside the help of national staff, partners, schools and churches, will not only prepare and educate Cambodian’s to live and work safely, but will expose them to faith in Jesus Christ.

A day in the life of a Protection Program Manager:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and prayer.  Then we join together in prayer for one another, as well as praying for staff and volunteers serving around the globe. 

In the role of Protection Program Manager, you will:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Develop relevant programming, including plans, proposals and budgets for new and existing projects related to counter trafficking, migrant assistance, education and protection sectors
  • Lead and assist with field-level execution of assigned programs
  • Provide supervision, support, capacity building and mentoring of national and program staff
  • Lead in the spiritual development of staff to ensure projects maintain their ministry focus
  • Establish monitoring systems to evaluate effectiveness of projects
  • Network within the NGO community, UN agencies, local and national government, and relevant stakeholders to ensure the programs address critical needs and meet donor criteria for funding
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports, including financial and project status, both for IHQ and donors.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Program Management
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year college or university in a relevant field (preferred)
  • Experience in project management in anti-trafficking or working with vulnerable populations; understanding of "train the trainer" model of village education
  • Strong relational skills and financial management skills
  • Experience in proposal writing, program development, implementation, and monitoring/evaluation methodologies
  • Clear understanding of working with major donors, their perspectives, requirements and standards
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability and ability to work with a diverse team in a pressured environment
  • Focused on the spiritual well-being of your team and goal of sharing the Gospel
  • Ability to travel long distances to field sites to monitor projects (25% of time)
  • Fluency in English (required)
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required)

Job Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Type:  Full-Time

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); Khmer (preferred)

Travel Expectations: 90 days/approx. (25%)

Samaritan's Purse Mission Statement:
