We have an exciting opportunity for a Program Support Officer to join our Projects team. This position will support various units at Samaritan’s Purse International Headquarters, including the International Health Unit (IHU), the Disaster Assistance Response and Incident Management Teams, and the Program Management Team in the development and management of proposals and programming.

** International travel is required for this position - average 25 - 30% annually.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop concept papers and prepare project proposals for Samaritan’s Purse and donor organizations.
  • Provide technical assistance during project cycle implementation, monitoring and the close-out process. This position will support the work of Disaster Assistance Response (DART) and Incident Management Teams (IMT) as required to include deployment to disaster settings.
  • Identify and analyze notices of funding opportunity (NOFOs)/requests for applications (RFAs) to determine alignment with Samaritan’s Purse areas of focus and expertise; be alert to upcoming health related funding opportunities.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of external funder regulations (UN, government & non-government agencies, SP IHQ & Affiliates).
  • Ensure that program planning aligns with relevant international and internal standards
  • As needed, support program implementation related to the following: assessments, baselines, monitoring and evaluation systems, budget reviews, key lessons learned, data verification, reporting and close-out.
  • Contribute to expanding health programming throughout country offices and health disasters through proposal development support and coordination with the IHU.
  • Support the International Health Unit (IHU) with creation of health programming templates and other resources for proposal development.
  • Review and provide feedback on project proposals and reports to ensure strong project design, measurement, and reporting across SP programming.
  • Develop trainings (both field based and webinar based), resources, and tools on program management topics, in order to build field office capacity.
  • Mentor and build capacity of field staff in general program development skills, quantitative and qualitative monitoring and evaluation skills.

What we are looking for in a candidate:

  • Maintain a personal relationship with and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year College or university; or a minimum of three (3)  to five (5) years’ related international work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in Public Health preferred, but not required 
  • Field-level grant-writing experience with major donors (governments and UN agencies).
  • Experience working for humanitarian organizations or International NGOs preferred
  • Knowledge of health programming desired
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral proficiency in English.
  • Strong skills in quantitative and qualitative analytical and strategic thinking
  • Ability to develop and carry out processes and solve problems independently
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment including disaster situations.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer applications, in particular proficiency required in MS Word, MS Excel and Power Point
  • Comfortable with international travel
  • Working knowledge of French and Spanish a plus but not required
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred
