Operation Heal Our Patriots (OHOP) - Seasonal Opportunities
Operation Heal Our Patriots (OHOP) gives wounded Military Veterans and their spouses the opportunity for spiritual refreshment, physical renewal, and marriage enrichment. Couples participate in Biblically-based seminars that help strengthen their relationships with God and others, while enjoying the beauty of God’s creation with outdoor activities at our Alaskan Wilderness Lodge.
You can serve with Samaritan’s Purse as an OHOP seasonal employee working as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to bring joy to these couples. This will require a commitment to work the duration of the season, from May through mid-September.
Positions are temporary, full-time with most work Monday thru Friday but some duties on Saturday and Sunday. Housing and food are provided in the remote Alaskan Village of Port Alsworth (except for Host/Shopper position in Anchorage). Requirements include clear background along with professional and church references.
NOTE: Application review will begin early in 2018. However, decisions may not be completed until May, 2018.
Position available include:
* Anchorage Host/Shopper - Requires high logistical qualities. Host duties include transporting and entertaining guests of Samaritan Lodge in Anchorage as flights arrive/depart. As shopper, purchases supplies/food and readies them for flight to Port Alsworth and other locations. NOTE: This position is in Anchorage. Housing is not supplied.
* Cooks - Candidates with previous restaurant/volume food preparation/supervision experience.
* Maintenance - Building and grounds maintenance including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, kitchen equipment, painting, and lawn/equipment maintenance.
* Housekeeping - Daily cleaning of guest cabins, dining halls, laundry room, and other buildings on and off site. Includes cleaning bathrooms, kitchen areas, trash removal, laundry services and training/guiding volunteer help.
* Kitchen/Dining Room Assistants - dining hall set-up, serving meals, cleaning, dishwashing, emptying trash receptacles, and maintaining dining hall, bathrooms, and kitchen.
* Assistant Fishing Guides - requires expertise in the field of fishing and guiding in remote Alaska. Should be familiar with all the tools and equipment needed to provide a safe and successful experience to the guests of the Samaritan Lodge.

Samaritan's Purse Mission Statement:
Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
