After sharing the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus said "Go and do likewise." That is the mission of Samaritan's Purse-to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel.  To do that world-wide requires planes and pilots.  Our Mission Aviation Services section provides that transportation.

The Ministry Pilot will operate company-owned aircraft (including Falcon 900, King Air 300) to transport company Chairman/Chief Executive Officer and/or other officials and guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a current aviation FAA first class medical certificate and valid FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with Multiengine Land Rating.
  • Perform pilot duties as needed or assigned.
  • File flight plans as needed or assigned.
  • Obtain weather data and interpret data based on flight plan.
  • Complete aircraft weight and balances for flights.
  • Load and unload passenger's luggage in aircraft.
  • Keep assigned aircraft charts and data bases updated.
  • Work with Samaritan's Purse mechanics and contracted mechanics in matters relating to the Aircraft as assigned in identifying and resolving discrepancies. He is not authorized to do any aircraft maintenance himself.
  • Keep the aircraft clean, neat, when home and away from the home base including sanitizing the aircraft restroom facilities after each flight.
  • Assist in the maintenance, and cleaning of all Samaritan’s Purse hangars’ property.
  •  Perform pre-flights, in-flight test, and post-flights as needed to ensure safety of flight.
  • Work with the Federal Aviation Administration as assigned.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations to the President and Director on new equipment, software and issues of safety.
  • Update navigation databases for airplanes as necessary.
  • Timely complete all necessary flight records and passenger manifests.
  • Represent the Ministry on a professional level when dealing with business associates, officials, and customers.
  • Assist the President and Director with office duties and other duties as assigned.
  • Keep all aspects of Mission Aviation Services confidential relating to the schedule and expenses.

NOTE:  Position requires flexibility to be ready and available to travel anywhere in the world (24/7) at a moment's notice.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Four year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.
  • Minimum - 2000 hours jet and international experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Maintain current Aviation First Class Medical Certificate, valid Pilot's License
  • ATP-AMEL (Airline Transport Pilot - Aircraft Multi-Engine Land), and FCC Restricted Radio Permit.
  • Must maintain currency in the aircraft types assigned.

Samaritan's Purse Mission Statement:
