Our Projects department is seeking a Medical Operations Manager to join the team in North Wilkesboro, NC. This position supports and develops the operational health capacities of Samaritan’s Purse globally as part of the International Health Unit (IHU). A day in the life of a Medical Operations Manager:

In the role of Medical Operations Manager, International Health Unit, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Lead a team of specialists in medical operations, technical Emergency Field Hospital (EFH) build, field operations support, supply chain, and medical equipment, consumable and pharmaceutical management
  • Oversee the implementation and readiness process of prepositioned medical capacities to meet identified disaster and field office needs and maintain capacities above international standards
  • Assist with management of Emergency Medical Response (EMR) planning process
  • Manage processes, and advise on potential improvements of new technical solutions for preparation of emergency field hospitals, mobile response units, and cold chain management
  • Oversee the planning and execution process as pertains to Inventory and operational systems
  • Support technical solutions for deployments, develops relationships, and benchmarks other organizations in similar work
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to facilitate the rapid deployment, and ongoing operation of emergency and field medical deployments
  • Oversee operational and clinical functions of emergency medical response deployments, ensuring staff and decisions made and in accordance with Emergency Medical Response (EMR) SOPs
  • Complete post response process improvement lessons learned for process improvement and review of medical deployments
  • Oversee the operations manager capacity in field deployments, providing field mentorship for medical operations managers, Incident Management Team (IMT) support, and processes support to deployed team
  • Participate in DART trainings and support the facilitation of medical operations and supply chain training in order to maintain connection to a community of practice around hospital administration and operations managers able to deploy.
  • Recruit and engage with current DART team members as needed
  • Oversee the development of capacity, systems, and implementation of structural, construction, and setup team plans and activities
  • Create and advise on the development of operational solutions for health programs in emergency response - custom units tailored for specific needs, as they develop
  • Provide surge capacity for the IMT or DART deployments as requested
  • Plan for and execute deployment of display units to conferences and events, and repacking and resupply
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Hospital Administrator, Medical operations/logistics specialist or Disaster response operations professional with applicable degree and a minimum of five (5) years of international field program experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master’s degree in Public Health (M.P.H.) strongly preferred
  • Technical field, hospital administration, or relevant field strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated management capability and experience in a low resource, crisis setting is required
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Travel Expectations: international and domestic travel; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
