A Day in the Life of an Operation Christmas Child Processing Center Administrative Assistant

Serve with Samaritan’s Purse as an Operation Christmas Child Seasonal Processing Center Administrative Assistant you will work with thousands of volunteers to help bring Jesus’ love to children around the world. The Samaritan’s Purse Processing Center Associate opportunity provides Operation Christmas Child (OCC) Processing Centers with seasonal qualified staff to help manage the operational and volunteer management responsibilities in assigned areas during the shoebox processing season of OCC.  Processing Center Administrative Assistants will also work with the OCC Processing Center Manager or full-time Administrative Assistant to facilitate and manage all areas of administration of the OCC Processing Center. You are acting as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to bring joy to children, families, and communities.  You, or someone you know, may be an ideal candidate to serve in as a Processing Center Administrative Assistant in one of our Processing Centers.

This is a full-time, seasonal commitment that runs from September to December.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a desire to serve the Lord in a hands-on ministry. Positions are temporary, full-time (40+ hours per week including Saturdays at times). Screening requirements include social media review and pastoral/spiritual mentor screen.

• Proficient in Excel
• Volunteer management experience
• Customer service experience
• Able to lift and move 25 lbs. on a regular basis

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Coordinate with OCC Processing Center Trainers to ensure adequate supply of volunteer paperwork as well as pens, pencils and other office supplies.
• Oversee the answering of the OCC Processing Center phones, providing coverage during all hours of operation.
• Take accurate, detailed messages and ensure timely delivery to the appropriate personnel.
• Check voicemail for messages on an hourly basis.
• Keep office area neat and clean.
• Assist with ordering and organizing meals for volunteers and management staff during OCC Season.
• Send correspondence by fax and e-mail as appropriate.
• Schedule volunteers as needed.
• Assist with any cancellation of volunteers as Processing Center closes for the season at the discretion of the Processing Center Manager.
• Be familiar with key OCC/Samaritan’s Purse personnel who may need to reach various OCC/Samaritan’s Purse personnel working on-site at the Processing Center.
• Be able to accurately communicate driving directions to the OCC Processing Center.
• Sustain a self-assured and hospitable personality to represent Operation Christmas Child in a positive and helpful way for the temporary associates and thousands of volunteers who come to the OCC Processing Center.
