Operation Christmas Child (OCC) International, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse, partners with local believers and churches in over 100 countries to share the powerful message of the Gospel through a simple shoebox gift with children around the world. We accomplish shoebox gift growth through the development of leader volunteers throughout the world to lead local volunteer teams promoting and growing the ministry of Operation Christmas Child in their communities.

In order to help accomplish these large goals and initiatives, we are looking for a qualified Tableau Developer to produce data visualization dashboards that document ministry impact. Additionally, this position builds and maintains ministry impact databases that support all areas of OCC International, and coordinates with the IT department on enterprise software enhancements. This position is based at our IHQ in Boone, NC, but can be performed from our Ministry Centers in Charlotte, NC, Aurora, IL, or Fullerton, CA.

A day in the life of a Tableau Developer:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 

In the role of Tableau Developer, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Create data visualization reports to support ministry impact metrics for all areas of OCC International
  • Train OCC International staff in data input and software utilization to ensure maximum benefit of current and future technology systems
  • Create and refine data sources for effective data visualizations
  • Collaborate with OCC Domestic and Information Technology departments in needs assessment and subsequent design, development, delivery, and maintenance of technology solutions
  • Maintain regular and open communication with OCC leadership to develop and manage dashboards of both static and dynamic data that will a better understanding of key ministry markers and data points
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and two to three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Thorough knowledge of Tableau software; general knowledge of Tableau Prep
  • General knowledge of data collection processes, data engineering processes, and data visualization best practices
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrate a positive and flexible attitude; able to multi-task effectively
  • Creative; able to develop a visually appealing dashboard
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred

Job Location: Boone, NC, Charlotte, NC, Aurora, IL, or Fullerton, CA  (no remote option)

Type:  Full-Time

Language Requirement: Fluency in English

Travel Expectations: Approximately 10 days per year
