This position will be a part of managing all Emergency Medical Response (EMR) programs, serving as the institutional capacity and authority in all international response monitoring, preparation, and implementation. A day in the life of an Emergency Medical Response Manager:

In the role of Emergency Medical Response Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Oversee the monitoring of health and medical crises globally and lead the identification of international and domestic opportunities for responses; Advising and guiding the broader IHU and organization as a whole in medical response
  • Implement and oversee organizational capacity for emergency medical response and help oversee the development of future functional emergency medical response strategies and designs including the Emergency Field Hospital Program
  • Oversee the process of clinical review of future medical response DART positions and medical DART recruitment strategies and goals; Oversee the growth and development pathways for medical DART staff to best serve on medical responses.
  • Oversee the processes for the proper management of major medical responses on the Incident Management Team (IMT)
  • Strengthen international network of relationships with NGO partners, UN bodies, and ministries of health and others in order to best position Samaritan’s Purse for future disaster response needs
  • Oversee outbreak and field epidemiology staff and capacity with goals to monitor worldwide outbreaks, and forecast impacts to affected populations. Guide response efforts with this information
  • Provide clinical support to IHU responses and surge capacity for the IMT or DART deployments as needed. This could include deploying to the field to provide onsite leadership or aid in the development of operational solutions for health programs in emergency response
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health (M.P.H.), Medical Doctor or advanced degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Medical Doctor or clinical Doctorate in a related field strongly preferred
  • Extensive international field program experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to train and lead teams in an international field setting for extended periods of time
  • Thorough knowledge of emergency response programming concepts, guidance, tools, technical papers, standards, and frameworks in the humanitarian aid sector
  • Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies strongly preferred

Type:  Full-Time

Travel Expectations: estimated 100 days/annually; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
