A day in the life of a Procurement and Operations Support Manager

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and prayer.  We hear from members of our staff, both from IHQ and our global offices, as well a special guest speakers who encourage us in God’s word.  We then join together to prayer for one another, as well as praying for staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.  We get paid to start each day this way! 

Job Duties

  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Supervise support staff and ensure operational excellence of the team. Serve as a conduit of communication between employees and senior management. 
  • Delegate assignments to support staff, including field assignments and special projects. Ensure consistent messaging and support from IHQ to staff in international field offices.
  • Advise field offices on procurement and operations best practice, Samaritan’s Purse policy, and grantor procurement requirements. Ensure field offices conduct procurement and operations in such a manner as to mitigate fraud and corruption.
  • Design and implement systems that provide a procurement-monitoring plan, to include financial, procurement, and programmatic information. Review field office procurement procedures, contracts, commodity tracking, asset inventory, and other reporting documents for grantor and Samaritan’s Purse requirements to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Advise on issues of procurement and operations compliance including, but not limited to, potential procurement and programmatic fraud investigations.
  • Develop standardized tools, templates, and work processes that result in streamlined and efficient procurement processes. Work closely with operational areas to ensure systems for procurement and operations management are synchronized.
  • Ensure successful future deployments of the Fixed Asset tracking system in Samaritan’s Purse country offices worldwide.
  • Ensure headquarters staff provide ongoing support for the fixed asset system to ensure appropriate use and tracking of Samaritan’s Purse assets worldwide.
  • Generate asset and procurement reports for Projects leadership as requested from applicable resources.
  • Travel to country offices or disaster areas frequently to better understand the operational environment and challenges faced with international procurement and fixed asset inventory.  Provide training on grantor and Samaritan’s Purse rules and regulations. Facilitate opportunities for capacity building and learning for field staff.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible procurement experience and/or experience managing fixed asset inventory; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • International procurement experience preferred.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in procurement management, especially in an international humanitarian context
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed. May travel in country with exposure to communicable diseases, hot and humid weather conditions.

Travel Expectations: Regular international travel - estimated 75 days per year
