Job Duties

The Finance Manager leads the finance team in developing, implementing, and coordinating all financial and budgetary aspects of Samaritan's Purse International Relief Philippines. The position is responsible for administrative field accounting, expenditures, bookkeeping, and payroll related to specific programs and projects in Philippines as assigned by the Country Director.

  • Ensures daily functions for recording all cash, check, and bank transfer transactions; cash and bank ledgers; cash advances and field expense reports; reconciliation of cash on hand; and monthly bank reconciliation are carried out correctly. Provides required monthly financial reports by specified deadlines to the Country Director and international headquarters.
  • Directly supervises and develops all members of the Samaritan’s Purse Philippines Finance team and the country office’s capacity to manage internally and externally funded financial programs.
  • Provides support to Budget/Project Managers and management leadership team on financial policies, practices, and related areas. This includes training on compliance with local regulations and Samaritan’s Purse policies.
  • Works in partnership with Country Director, Senior Programs Manager, Operations Manager, Human Resource Manager, Budget/Project Managers, and other stakeholders in yearly project budget preparations and regular reviews.
  • Serves on the Senior Leadership team to coordinate financial information with other senior leaders and provide input on overall office management and vision.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting or related field of study and three (3) or more years related experience, preferably in management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred. Experience with foreign currencies and budget management required.
  • Experience living and working in an international context strongly preferred.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of finance including sufficient comprehension to solve unusual and common finance problems, and ability to consult on technical matters as a resource for others in the organization.

Travel Expectations: Occasional travel (less than 10%) to visit programs or partners and monitor finances is required
