A day in the life of an International Logistics Coordinator

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and prayer.  We hear from members of our staff, both from IHQ and our global offices, as well a special guest speakers who encourage us in God’s word.  We then join together to prayer for one another, as well as praying for staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.  We get paid to start each day this way! 

Job Duties

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Post-Resident physicians and their families. Provide support and encouragement through email, Skype, and phone communication.
  • Act as communication intermediary between Post-Residents, the mission hospital/clinic, and Samaritan’s Purse field staff regarding Visas, medical licensure, and international travel.
  • Coordinate and confirm international travel arrangements for Post-Resident physicians and family activities (language school, field service, and ministry retreats). Communicate necessary immunizations, travel schedules, and documentation needed for trips, such as passports, tickets, and customs letters.
  • Obtain and process all necessary documentation for Post-Residents and their families for language school, medical licenses, work permits, and visas. Finalize in-country transportation to language school (if applicable) and hospital.
  • Manage a wide variety of logistical problems in route. Problem-solve, trouble-shoot, and offer viable solutions.
  • Keep accurate and detailed service records in CRM. Document communications, materials sent, and other necessary items pertaining to the physician’s time of service.
  • Keep efficient and accurate records in Post-Resident’s electronic file.  
  • Assist with related expenses to include requesting payment for pre-travel, in-country, and post-travel, and for any expenses that need to be reimbursed from the doctor’s project account or the Post-Residency Program Account.
  • Assist Post-Residency Program Manager and Director with preparations for conferences and project meetings by preparing reports, presentations, and other projects as assigned.
  • Prepares Post-Resident prayer cards for Devotions.

In the role of International Logistics Coordinator, you will spend your day working to provide logistical support to the Post-Residency Program and their physicians, as Post-Resident physicians prepare to serve in World Medical Mission partner hospitals and clinics around the world.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and six (6) months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Medical background and international experience preferred.
  • Comfortable with some interantional travel - estimated 10-15 days per year
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and quickly solve problems as they occur
  • Exceptional internal and external customer service focus
