A day in the life of a Medical Program Manager with Children's Heart Project

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 


In the role of the Medical Program Manager in Mongolia, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Lead CHP (and related) activities in Mongolia according to Samaritan’s Purse (SP) policies, maintaining awareness of legal and cultural requirements, and ensuring compliance
  • Represent SP and CHP to hospital administrators, pediatric cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, government officials, donors, churches, other NGOs, and visitors
  • Coordinate with Regional Host Coordinator at IHQ to recruit, select and train qualified interpreters/team leaders with strong Christian witness to serve with groups traveling to North America
  • Supervise orientation of CHP patients, families, surgery groups, and interpreters, ensuring all guidelines and expectations are adequately addressed
  • Assist visiting pediatric cardiologists with screening, echo evaluation transcription, and submission of electronic records to CHP Director
  • Ensure discharge records/recommendations from North American hospitals are obtained and given to national pediatric cardiologists to ensure continuity of care of post-surgical CHP patients
  • Cooperate with Regional Finance Officer to manage CHP Mongolia’s yearly budget, and oversee financial operations
  • Partner with local Mongolian churches and organizations in evangelism and community outreach, counseling and Heart Camps, ensuring continued discipleship and spiritual care of CHP families
  • Develop strategies for evangelism and discipleship to CHP families in remote and nomadic villages
  • Provide on-going communication to IHQ (i.e. Regional Director, Asia and CHP Director)
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in healthcare field (RN, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant); or one to two years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Healthcare Professional: PICU, RN, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in management and leadership positions
  • Spiritual maturity; committed to service as a means of fulfilling the Great Commission
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up required
  • Strong cross-cultural communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Flexible and adaptable; humble team player
  • Willingness to travel in and out of the field
  • High level of integrity; self-starter with exemplary work ethic
  • Fluency in English (required)
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required)
