World Medical Mission was established in 1977 to assist general surgeons who wanted to volunteer for short-term mission trips. Today, hundreds of volunteer Christian healthcare professionals serve in overseas mission hospitals and clinics. We also ship critically needed medical equipment and supplies and send our Biomedical Technicians to install, repair, and maintain the equipment at these facilities. This position would work directly with our emergecy field hospital as it is deployed to areas of urgent need due to a catastrophic event.  They set up and maintain the equipment and serve a vital role in the process of saving lives and sharing the gospel of the Good News of eternal life through the Great Physician, Jesus Christ.

Job Duties

  • Deploy as a primary advisor with the first emergency medical response wave, and assist with facility and medical equipment set-up.
  • Serve as the primary biomedical advisor to the EMR unit.
  • Maintain all medical response equipment in a state of readiness, which includes a Preventative Maintenance program for stocked medical devices.
  • Serve as a coordinator between the World Medical Mission biomedical team and the International Health Unit (IHU) medical operations team.
  • Investigate and vet new and updated equipment for the EMR unit.
  • Stay informed about appropriate state of the art technology for EMR and WMM efforts.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on EMR medical equipment.
  • Interface with other medical and trade disciplines.
  • Coordinate and assist with record keeping, including inventory, pricing, preparing, and cataloging technical documentation on medical equipment.
  • Maintain EMR technical documentation in unified EMR/IHU location for access by all on the field.
  • Assist with packing medical equipment and all needed accessories for shipment.
  • Support the WMM biomedical team workload as required.
  • Collaborates with the biomedical team on all technical matters.
  • Purge equipment inventory of outdated or inappropriate items as needed.

In the role of Biomedical Technician, Emeregency Medical Response, you will spend your day working to directly support both our Emergency Medical Response team and the ongoing World Medical Mission (WMM) programs. We stand ready to respond at a moment’s notice whenever and wherever disaster strikes around the world and continues to provide support for mission hospitals by providing equipment, supplies, and technical support.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, or associate degree (AAS) in biomedical technology and five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge/experience with variety of medical equipment strongly preferred.
  • Able to frequently travel internationally with little to no notice.
