Samaritans Purse is looking for a Security Manager to join our team at the new Ministry Center in Baltimore, MD. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and security of individuals and property at the Baltimore site. A Day in the Life of a Minisry Center Security Officer: 

At Samaritans Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 

 

In the role of a Ministry Center Security Officer, you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Ensures security teams are trained to advance and eliminate threats to staff on campus.  
  • Follows Ministry guidelines along with federal and state laws. Must be capable of employing reasonable force, up to and including lethal force. 
  • Balances critical security functions with the need to maintain a welcoming and friendly environment for all staff and visitors. 
  • Identifies threats to staff and facilities, and acts to eliminate them or mitigate their impact. Documents events or activities with written reports as well as conducting threat assessments as needed. 
  • Supervises all activities of Samaritans Purse On-Call Security Officers, law enforcement, and security contractors on the assigned campus. 
  • Builds relationships by coordinating with local law enforcement agencies to reinforce internal deterrence and response capabilities. 
  • Oversees security for major event security at the assigned Ministry Center. 
  • Supports scheduling of Samaritans Purse Security staff, law enforcement, and contracted security officers to ensure security coverage. 
  • Performs security functions to include: screening pedestrian and vehicular traffic for authorization to enter the premises, operating various equipment, including card access, fire and burglar alarms, video cameras, and ministry vehicles, monitoring activity across the campus through physical patrols and use of video surveillance equipment, and controlling access to the campus according to Samaritan's Purse policy.
  • Stays abreast of all Samaritan's Purse facilities, policies, procedures, and regulations that affect the safety and security of Samaritans Purse building occupants. 
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

  •  Associates degree and a minimum of five (5) years of leadership or management experience in law enforcement and/or military or Department of Corrections; or equivalent combination of experience and education. 
  • Must be currently certified as, or be able to obtain certification as a MD. Special Police Officer as described in MD. PUBLIC SAFETY Code Ann. 3-307 (2013) 3-307: 
  • General knowledge of security principles, protocols, and MD. PUBLIC SAFETY Code.
  • Thorough knowledge of escalation of force principles
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited information
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Effective communication skills
  • Effective report-writing skills for documenting activities or events
  • Basic keyboarding and computer skills
  • Working knowledge of instructional methods, techniques, and instructional design
  • Ability to comfortably speak/instruct in front of a group of people and communicate complex concepts and ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to understand complex security situations and relate possible impact on security officers
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information to develop a complete picture of security situations
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and make timely and accurate decisions in complex or uncertain environments
  • Ability to communicate effectively across socio-economic, political, and cultural lines
  • Working knowledge of law enforcement/security mindset for scheduling security and negotiating contracts
