Samaritan's Purse is seeking a Rotorcraft Ministry Pilot to join our Mission Aviation Services team in North Wilkesboro, NC. As a Ministry Pilot, you will support the ministry of Samaritan's Purse by piloting ministry-owned aircraft to transport employees, officials, and ministry guests, as well as serve as the pilot on international and domestic disaster responses. This position requires a minimum of 3,000 flight hours, with 500 hours in Bell helicopters strongly preferred. Come use your aviation skills and knowledge to advance the Gospel! 

 

A day in the life of a Ministry Pilot: 

At Samaritan's Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 

 

In the role of Ministry Pilot, you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
  • Conduct flights in accordance with FARs, policies, procedures and Aircraft Flight Manuals to ensure safety of personnel and equipment on the ground and in-flight to ensure the highest level of readiness and professional skill as a pilot.
  • Serve as pilot on international and domestic aviation disaster response deployments.
  • Complete all training activities, events, and coursework (in-person or online) as assigned.
  • Plan both domestic and international trips with the assistance of a trip planning service. 
  • Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks to ensure safe flight operations. 
  • Greet passengers and load and unload passengers luggage and cargo. 
  • Complete flight logs and passenger manifests for each flight in a timely manner.
  • Maintain electronic charts, databases, iPads, documents, etc. in current and orderly manner. 
  • Maintain the aircraft in a clean and organized fashion when at home and away from base. 
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Four-year college or university program certificate; and seven (7) to ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum of 3,000 hours total time, 500 in Bell helicopters strongly preferred.
  • External load experience preferred.
  • Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate required.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate required.
  • FCC Restricted Radio Permit required.
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

 

Job Location: North Wilkesboro, NC (relocation to the area required)

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required)

Travel Expectations: This position requires domestic/international travel of approximately 90 days/year. Maintaining required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary.
