Samaritan's Purse is seeking a Director of Maintenance to serve with our Mission Aviation Services department in Monrovia, Liberia. The Director of Maintenance works under the Program Director, overseeing all aircraft maintenance for our Mission Aviation Services team in Liberia. The position ensures adherence to regulatory standard while maintaining a focus on safety and efficiency. Additionally, this position supervises the maintenance base and launching of aircraft, and assists with cargo loading. Come use your aviation gifts and talents to advance the Gospel! 

 

A day in the life of a Director of Maintenance:

In the role of Director of Maintenance, you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections and maintenance on aircraft, including pre-flight inspections.  Ensure continued airworthiness of aircraft to standards that meet or exceed FAA requirements. 
  • Perform engineering duties in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.  Ensure aircraft records are current and complete, including tracking and forecasting data.
  • Ship and track parts sent for repair/overhaul.  Maintain equipment and facilities for the aircraft. 
  • Schedule inspections based on regulatory requirements for each aircraft in cooperation with Program Director.
  • Oversee the spare parts inventory and maintain stock at appropriate levels.  Operate aircraft ground and loading equipment as needed.
  • Ensure all aircraft are kept clean and neat.  Perform line service duties during refueling, and assist with loading and unloading aircraft.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • College or university program certificate and eight (8) to ten (10) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience living and/or working overseas preferred.
  • Commercial/For Profit aviation experience desired.
  • Current FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certificate required.
  • Current FAA Inspection Authorization required.
  • Experience with Bell helicopters, and/or Cessna 208/PT6 engines strongly desired.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration 14 CFR regulations. 
  • Ability to oversee the process for storing of technical records and inventory management. 
  • Willingness to work extended hours to return aircraft to service to meet the ministry's needs. 
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Travel Expectations: This position requires international travel of approximately 30 days per year; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
