A day in the life of a Kitchen Coordinator:
At Samaritans Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.
In the role of Kitchen Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to:
- Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
- Prepare and serve food according to approved menus and standardized recipes, while keeping waste to a minimum.
- Put away dry stock in the storeroom, refrigerated food in the cooler, and frozen foods in the freezer when delivered by food service vendors. Ensure proper dating, rotation, and storage.
- Monitor food quality using Food Safe methods as directed. Apply correct cooking temperatures.
- Maintain an orderly and clean kitchen, eating and service areas, storage, and cooler/freezer facilities.
- Assist in serving meals in appropriate portions. Notify Chef and Manager if quantities are low.
- Prepare and serve food and beverages to guests at caterings, special events, and banquets as scheduled.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of front of house. Refill items and alert manager when stock is low.
- Assist in daily closing, cleaning, and dishwashing after meals. Collect and return dirty dishes to washing area.
- Remove trash and break down boxes. Sweep and mop floors.
- Communicate problems or situations that may arise, such as product shortages, special orders, repairs, or maintenance needs to Food Service Manager.
- Assist in submitting biweekly orders to food vendors. Maintain a working knowledge of websites and relationships with food distributors to fulfill tasks to completion.
- Monitor prep list and kitchen tasks to ensure proper quality and timing.
- Follow policies and procedures of Samaritan's Purse as set forth in the Policy Manual.
- Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, donors and volunteers.
- Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries and teh general public.

Qualifications & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) to five (5) years experience in food preparation
- ServeSafe Manager certification required
