Samaritans Purse is looking for a Reception and Switchboard Operator to join our team in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. In this role, you will be responsible for answering phones, greeting guests, and providing assistance to our staff and visitors. A day in the life of a Reception and Switchboard Operator 

At Samaritans Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.  

In the role of Reception and Switchboard Operator, you will have the opportunity to: 

• Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
• Answer phones and interact with donors in a warm, professional, and positive manner, fielding general Samaritan's Purse questions, and taking requests for information
• Determine caller needs and route calls to the appropriate person or department
• Receive guests, vendors, and salespersons, making them welcome and creating a positive environment
• Assist guests, vendors, and salespersons with visitor registration 
• During emergencies, assist with communications to Facilities, Security, or Emergency Services
• Provide backup coverage for all reception desks including the Boone campus, North Wilkesboro campus, and other locations as needed
• Maintain a current working knowledge of Samaritans Purse history and mission
• Monitor the answering machine each morning for calls received after hours and during weekends and disburse messages as needed
• Assist with various other administrative duties 
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience: 

• Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of donors or employees
