Samaritan's Purse is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as our Operation Heal Our Patriots (OHOP) Training and Curriculum Manager. You will ensure that instructional materials align with intended outcomes, in-person training content, utilizing adult learning principles that are organized and aesthetically appealing for the ministry.  The role collaborates with subject matter experts to determine the content necessary to meet organizational objectives and is responsible for monitoring participant progress.  This position involves analyzing, designing, editing and delivering training content for OHOP; specifically targeting Chaplains, Mentors, and Key Leaders.  The focus is on enhancing OHOP training, Fortify Your Marriage (FYM) Retreat training, OHOP Reunion breakout sessions, and other forms of training that foster Godly curriculum.  This position is based in North Wilkesboro, NC.

A day in the life of an OHOP Training and Curriculum Manager

In the role of OHOP Training and Curriculum Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
  • Evaluate chaplains, mentors and key leaders as they teach and facilitate while in Alaska, FYM's and during OHOP reunions.
  • Apply proven adult learning design principles to develop mentors, key leaders and OHOP alumni.
  • Create instructional content using both proven and new innovative forms of media such as video or audio with application for its intended audience.
  • Build and manage an OHOP library of training/curriculum to use as a resource to teach at a FYM/Area Regional Meeting (ARM) or in a study.
  • Travel to Alaska to teach and assess the teaching during the OHOP season, as well as the OHOP Reunion and FYM trainings by evaluating the effectiveness of course content.
  • Assist OHOP Regional Chaplains with duties when they are traveling, ill or unable to complete tasks such as pre/post Alaska phone calls, Fortify Your Marriage, regional meetings/visits and providing pastoral care to OHOP couples.
  • Present material related to Crisis Incident Stress Management (CISM). 
  • Follow policies and procedures of Samaritan's Purse as set forth in the Policy Manual.
  • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, donors and volunteers.
  • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) required from a four-year college or university; Master's degree in Christian Religious Studies, Master of Divinity preferred
  • Ordination from a recognized Christian denomination required
  • Experience as a Pastor or Military Chaplain required
  • Served in the U.S. military required
  • Must have experience in Learning, Instructional Design, Training/Development, public speak or related fields with 10 or more years of direct experience in education, non-profit, or civil service position; or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • To foster learning and to stay current on the latest trends in training and instructional development, along with dealing with Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Continuing Education (CEU) is highly encouraged

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required) 

Travel Expectations:  15% annually
