We are hiring a Deputy Country Director to serve in Bogota, Colombia! We are looking for an experienced leader to assist the Country Director in providing mentorship and oversight to our leadership team, as well as provide guidance in field office vision and general leadership. A day in the life of a Deputy Country Director 

At Samaritan's Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other and our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.

In the role of Deputy Country Director, you will have the opportunity to:

  •          Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him. 
  •          Support the Country Director in cultivating an environment of continuous development of spiritually healthy field teams.
  •          Fill in for the Country Director when absent.
  •          Actively participate in the development and implementation of a country office strategy and vision within the overall Samaritans Purse vision/mission.
  •        Externally represent the country office when hosting VIP field trips and in meetings with governmental and non-governmental organizations, including in cluster and other coordination meetings.
  •         Pursue potential funding and other available resources for ongoing, new, or planned Samaritans Purse projects.
  •        Support the Country Director with monitoring security concerns and potential disasters, both natural and man-made, and perform field assessments when necessary.
  •       Primary responsibilities are determined in collaboration with the Country Director but may include oversight of field office operations; ensuring efficiency and compliance with Samaritans Purse policies and best practices; monitoring implementation and finances; evaluating ongoing and new activities to ensure targets are achieved and budgets are maintained; overseeing the completion of accurate and thorough reporting; and guiding the work of the Program Development Officer and Program Managers on proposals and budgets.
  •         All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  •          Ability to lead large cross-cultural teams.
  •          Working knowledge of partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organizations including United States Government and United Nations organizations.
  •          General knowledge of project planning and implementation; logistics; and financial and administrative coordination.
  •          Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and a minimum of three (3) years related leadership and international field work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •          Extensive field humanitarian experience in a management role is strongly preferred.
  •          12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); Proficiency in Spanish (required)

Travel Expectations: The employee must be willing and able to travel to remote field locations; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary. National travel approximately 25-35 days per year and international travel approximately 10 days per year.
