Samaritans Purse is seeking a Videographer/Assistant Editor to join our team at our International Headquarters location in Boone, NC. You can be helping the ministry with our media systems every day!  As a Videographer/ Assistant Editor, you will videotape the work of Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association events in a highly professional manner.  Bring your videography skills and knowledge to a mission critical broadcast team. Come and use your gifts daily to advance the Gospel!

A day in the life of a Videographer/Assistant Editor:

At Samaritans Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 

In the role of Videographer/Assistant Editor you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Set up small ENG/EFP shoots with little or no help (lighting, equipment, decor, etc.)
  • Design and create sets as needed, and incorporate professional lighting techniques and audio standards
  • Collect pre-shoot instructions and information and oversee all aspects of production and editing
  • Exchange ideas on a shoot or in post-production with a writer, producer or director responsible for the final production, as well as during production meetings
  • Tell a story through the nonlinear post production process, and craft a story arc from filmed interviews and video footage or narrative style scripts
  • Pack all gear and supplies for location shoots ensuring that gear is packed properly to guard against damage and keeping the gear limited to proper weight standards of the airlines
  • Ensure accountability for all of the field gear while in-house or on the field
  • Secure and maintain the required documentation of all equipment related to the carrying out of duties overseas
  • Make maintenance and cleaning schedules for field video equipment, ensuring the schedules are kept, and that all the field equipment is cleaned and properly maintained before and after each trip
  • Plan and secure all customs clearances on international shoots, and Assure the proper amount of supplies to fulfill all needs of the shoot
  • Assist with duties such as video edits, lighting techniques, audio requirements, graphic creation, locating shots, investigating equipment for possible purchases, especially video equipment directly related to the actual carrying out of Videographer's duties
  • Produce pieces, under the supervision of the Production Manager, working with the Creative Director in conceptualizing, writing, rough cut editing, shot selecting and working with editors to ensure production is finalized, taking the process from startup through to completion
  • Assist Producer(s) by shot-sheeting any script assigned
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in related field and 3-5 years of related experience
  • Ability to quickly make good decisions during tight deadlines and pressure-filled situations while on location shoots or in-house productions
  • Excellent verbal communication skills needed to communicate not only with peers but also with other people of other races, nationalities, religions, ethnic groups, cultures, etc.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies preferred not required
