Samaritan’s Purse is seeking a Regional Finance Officer (RFO) - International Disasters to join the Field Finance team at our International Headquarters location in Boone, NC. As a Regional Finance Officer (RFO), you will be responsible for the development, training, and readiness of Samaritan’s Purse’s disaster response capacity in Finance. The RFO assists in developing financial best practices and establishing Samaritan’s Purse protocols and standards to ensure compliance with the organization’s financial practices and procedures during disaster responses. A day in the life of a Regional Finance Officer-International Disasters:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 

In the role of Regional Finance Officer-International Disasters, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Liaison with the International Projects department and the International Disaster Response Unit (IDRU) for all finance matters related to disaster responses
  • Serves as the on-call financial representative on the Incident Management Team (IMT).
  • Develop and lead financial training programs for International Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) members to improve capacity. 
  • Assist in developing financial best practices and establishing Samaritan’s Purse protocols and standards to ensure compliance with the organization’s financial practices and procedures during disaster responses
  • Guide in-country finance team members to ensure internal controls are in place and functioning. Ensures organizational policies, procedures, and processes are implemented and risks are minimized when Finance positions are temporarily vacant on disaster responses
  • Develop systems and tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations on disaster responses
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis of financial activity for disaster responses. Identifies requirements and develops useful financial reporting templates as needed
  • Contribute ongoing support and assistance when transitioning disaster responses to International Projects’ Field Offices, ensuring that organizational financial policies and procedures are implemented properly
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field and three (3) to five (5) years’ related accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Knowledge of Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to calculate, present, and analyze financial information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability, readiness, and ability to work with a diverse team in a pressured environment
  • Proven ability to work creatively and independently and a strong team player and adept at creating a strong team spirit
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams across the organization
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including proficiency in Excel and Outlook (required)
  • Experience in international disaster response preferred
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Type:  Full-Time

Travel Expectations: 60 days/annually; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
