The Construction Foreman with North American Ministries, requires a skilled builder and should be knowledgeable in all aspects of construction.  This Rebuild project, in Selma, Alabama, involves providing minor and more wholesale repairs and, in some cases, complete rebuilds from the ground up.  You could be helping a family to get back into their home after damaging storms and the opportunity to address their spiritual needs as well.  Come join the Team!

A day in the life of a Construction Foreman:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 

In the role of Construction Foreman, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Work jointly with the Project Superintendent, Volunteer and Logistics Coordinator to construct and/or repair homes in the affected area
  • Be willing to lead and work with volunteers, work with other construction workers on-site and hired subcontractors when needed
  • Ensure quality of each project is maintained to the highest possible standard
  • Provide safety training and general project training for team members at the job site and assure all work is done with safe manner
  • Maintain security of all materials and equipment at job sites
  • Ensure quality and adherence of Samaritan’s Purse policies from hired subcontractors
  • Inspect all jobs, ensuring all work is in accordance with federal, state and local laws and codes
  • Communicate and minister to Project Superintendent, homeowners and partners, keeping them informed of the team's work and projected needs
  • Complete and submit reports for any injuries occurring at the job sites
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Be familiar with all aspects of residential home construction, from layout and foundation work to final inspection
  • Be willing to "wear the work belt" and work alongside volunteers and guide them
  • All construction courses and training and or on the job training will be reviewed, i.e. electrical, plumbing, roofing, framing and finish carpentry
  • A Class A Commercial Driver’s License is helpful, but not required. Ability to obtain a drivers medical card is required
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire
