Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a ministry of Samaritans Purse, is searching for a Content/Media Specialist to serve at our IHQ in Boone, NC. This role supports national marketing promotions through content development and media relations activities for Operation Christmas Child. Responsibilities include assisting with content management, media partnerships, pitching, national advertising and budget coordination. A day in the life of a Content/Media Specialist

At Samaritans Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 

In the role of Content/Media Specialist, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Support the Operation Christmas Child marketing content sourcing, curation, database management, and distribution across all promotional channels
  • Help manage all broadcast production requests. Assists with submitting requests, routing for approvals, and final delivery of assets to appropriate teams
  • Assist with content management and coordination for all promotional messaging within Operation Christmas Child processing centers. Help conduct training and equipping for presentation technology
  • Support the management and conducting of media pitching and generating media coverage for Operation Christmas Child through digital, print, television, and radio outlets across the nation
  • Manage select media partnerships and promotions. Develop strategies to deepen relationships, ensure deliverables, implement promotions, and conduct end-of-season debriefs and affirmations
  • Develop and maintain historical outreach and partnership data from internal and external sources to support peak-of-season media pitching, response coordination, and reporting
  • Equip and assist with training of media volunteers, seasonal media associates, and new spokespersons as needed. Helps develop pitching materials and online learning content
  • Follow policies and procedures of Samaritans Purse as set forth in the Policy Manual
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

  • Excellent professional writing and editing skills, specifically press release and content writing
  • Demonstrated innovator who loves to create
  • Strong communication skills: able to effectively work interdepartmentally, train Associates, interact with customers and vendors
  • Detail-oriented and administrative; familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Able to work with minimal direction; highly adaptable to changing demands
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field and one (1) to three (3) years professional experience; or equivalent combination of experience and education

Language Requirement: Fluency in English

Travel Expectations: Less than 5%
