Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse, partners with local believers and churches in over 100 countries to share the powerful message of the Gospel through a simple shoebox gift. We are searching for an Assistant Director, Strategic Organizational Initiatives to serve at our IHQ, in Boone, NC.

Are you a proven, IT project management leader with ability to take a project from concept to completion? You will support Samaritan’s Purse and Operation Christmas Child leadership to provide internal focus and momentum to overarching, programmatic matters that influence the current and future health of the global program.  Do you have previous experience managing and leading others to adopt a vision and internalize concepts?  You will also provide project management expertise to bring about resolution of each challenge/opportunity in a timely manner, and serve as a leader in all strategic organizational initiatives for Operation Christmas Child at our International Headquarters, our national Processing Centers, and be a consultant to our global Affiliate Offices.

A day in the life of an Assistant Director, Strategic Organizational Initiatives:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 

In the role of Assistant Director, Strategic Organizational Initiatives, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Assists the Director with strategic, short and long-term IT initiatives and opportunities for Samaritan’s Purse/OCC Domestic at IHQ
  • Identifies, implements and manages new strategic short and long-term initiatives and opportunities for Samaritan’s Purse/OCC Domestic in support of Director and Senior Management
  • Directs testing of technology related to projects within Operation Christmas Child
  • Directs strategy for data analysis software (Tableau) for purpose of measuring effectiveness across the OCC ministry
  • Directs strategy in geographic information systems (GIS) for OCC Domestic and International
  • Manages new IT project initiatives that impact the Operation Christmas Child business processes
  • Directs and assists the Business Process Manager to train OCC Domestic employees on IT programs
  • Oversees donor and volunteer fundraising development and communication, in compliance with Samaritan’s Purse policy and Legal team
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or seven to ten years related experience and/or training in project management with the ability to conduct research, analyze data and write proposals; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of related experience in IT Project Management
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, effectively managing a team and liaising with other departments
  • High level ability to envision and scope a project, identify risks, and manage stakeholder’s expectations
  • Experienced and proficient in User Acceptance Testing (UAT); able to effectively translate user stories
  • Flexible team player; able to multitask efficiently in a fast paced environment
  • Strong understanding of relational databases to include MySQL, SQL Server, and/or PostgreSQL preferred
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies required

Job Location: Boone, NC (no remote option)

Type:  Full-time

Language Requirement: Fluency in English

Travel Expectations: Approx one month per year
