Samaritan’s Purse is seeking an International Regional Director, East Africa to serve with Operation Christmas Child (OCC).  This role would allow you to provide overall regional vision, program and people development, and implementation of the OCC Project in the areas of Logistics, Teambuilding, Ministry Partner Development, Financial Stewardship, as well as overseeing all aspects of The Greatest Journey Discipleship Program in the region for the advancement of the Gospel!  As Regional Director, you will be part of sharing the Gospel through evangelism, discipleship and multiplication to children throughout the East Africa region. A day in the life of an OCC International Regional Director, East Africa

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other and our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.

In the role of International Regional Director, East Africa, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Provide regional vision, strategy, leadership toward accomplishing OCC Global Goals
  • Prepare, justify, manage, and report on regional budget and country grants effectively year round
  • Lead and direct the Regional Team – 1-3 Regional Mangers, International Field Representatives (IFR’s) and Regional Coordinators
  • Provide direct leadership and development to all Regional NLT’s and indirect leadership and development to all Strategic and Regional Volunteer teams (sRLT, RLT)
  • Strategize, direct, coordinate the health of the OCC project in the region through the training of volunteers, deployment of RM’s and IFR’s congruent with the OCC ministry cycle
  • Lead, direct, facilitate 3-year growth plans in each country in the region as well as regional UPG (Unreached People Group) strategic initiatives w/ OCC project
  • Ensure effective support and oversight for Annual iConnect Conferences, Regional Business Meetings (RBM) as well as country-specific nConnects
  • Prioritize the application and acquisition of exoneration in every country in the region while also ensuring National Teams (NLT’s) maintain constant engagement with Consignee, Clearing Agent, and customs officials
  • Manage the regional Global Distribution Plan (GDP) in conversation with IHQ & Logistics while also monitoring and tracking the importation process in the region in cooperation with the OCC Logistics Team
  • Provide oversight for effective implementation of Special Trips/Organizational Initiatives (harvest trips, initiatives from president’s office, content trips etc.)
  • Maintain project accountability through observations, ministry alignment checks, and coaching to ensure OCC resources are used responsibly through effective training and reporting
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

  • An active and growing faith in Jesus Christ
  • Working knowledge to read, analyze, understand and communicate via written or verbal correspondence
  • General knowledge of basic arithmetic
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook required
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Proven ability to train, coach and develop staff and/or volunteers
  • Effective communication, presentation, and time management skills
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire

Job Location: Boone, NC

Type: Full-time

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); Proficient to communicate in regional Languages (as needed) ex. French/Spanish

Travel Expectations: 80-110 days/annually; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
