We are hiring a Ministry Program Manager to serve with our office in South Sudan. In this role you will be the lead on development, implementation, and management of ministry programs and activities take place in our field locations. Based Juba, you’ll get to travel to remote field sites to provide technical support to our teams in the field and work to equip local churches with biblical literacy and knowledge, leadership, capacity building, and integrity. A day in the life of a Ministry Program Manager:  

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 


In the role of Ministry Program Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Oversee all ministry projects in country to ensure alignment with Samaritan’s Purse South Sudan strategy
  • Empower and provide technical support to the national staff at each field location to replicate their responsibilities with the local church when Samaritan’s Purse leaves.
  • Develop relationships with local church leaders and manage a Biblical Literacy & Discipleship Program (BiLD) by creating and following an implementation plan to build local church capacity for long-term sustainability
  • Create and implement pastor training program by designing training material for local pastors to have the tools to preach accurate and biblically based sermons
  • Research and design a program that will motivate churches to more fully live out their God-given roles in their congregations and communities. This includes training churches on the new strategies for outreach
  • Implement and steward new ministry projects in South Sudan, including Community-based disaster risk reduction (CBDRR) activities and trauma counselling.
  • Encourage integrity for all ministry practices and assist in local church ministry development and strategy
  • Manage the Ministry Program finances with budget management, procurement and purchasing, and submission of reports and forecasts
  • Direct program logistics, inventory of ministry supplies, coordination of necessary materials
  • Produce regular reports in collaboration with the Grants Team to share with International Headquarters and the Donor Ministries department
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in Theology, Biblical Studies or related field; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire. 
  • Experience leading church partnerships and extensive international and cross-cultural working experience
  • Extensive experience working within church structures and building inter-church coalitions with strong understanding of local culture
  • Strong planning, organizing, budgeting, and strategy formulation skills
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal with Strong public speaking skills, especially in front of Church leaders and humanitarian actors.
  • Must be a humble team player and able to be flexible and adaptable.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to drive a standard transmission vehicle on rough roads and through extremely muddy conditions


Job Location: Juba, South Sudan

Type:  Full-Time

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); Arabic a plus

Accompaniment: Unaccompanied

Travel Expectations: Approximately 100 days annually to different field locations and rare international trips; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
