Our boat clinic connects medical professionals directly with people in need along the Amazon Basin and creates numerous Gospel opportunities. If you have a drive to manage processes while at the same time have a deep desire to directly impact people’s lives for the Kingdom of God this role might be a good fit for you.

A day in the life of a Boat Clinic Program Coordinator:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 

In the role of Boat Clinic Program Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Supervise the boat team including the boat captain and staff doctor, providing annual performance evaluations as well as periodic reviews while ensuring clarity of roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations
  • Implement evangelism outreaches in remote river communities visited by the Ruth Bell medical boat
  • Ensure the proper preparation for monthly trips, including menu planning, food and supply purchases, and making sure all other logistical needs are met (including any boat repairs or maintenance)
  • Ensure the successful execution of the project in alignment with approved program planning documents and established activities, milestones, and desired results
  • Liaise effectively with key authorities such as local Naval Command (for permits and trip registrations), Controlled Substances (for fuel approvals), and local health officials (for local volunteer opportunities)
  • Provide success stories and other information as requested by the communications team
  • Support the boat captain and crew by sharing responsibility for activities during river voyages (cooking, cleaning, night watch duty, etc.)
  • Coordinate short-term national volunteer medical/dental teams coming to serve onboard the Ruth Bell medical boat, including orientation, schedules, budgets, and logistics
  • Develop and manage relationships with World Medical Mission post-resident physicians visiting the boat to support the project
  • Act as a translator between World Medical Mission physicians and Spanish-speaking patients living in communities along the river in the Bolivian Basin
  • Source and/or create discipleship and evangelism materials appropriate for use in the river communities
  • Spend time in contact with Samaritan’s Purse beneficiaries (children, young adults, adults at risk) promoting and safeguarding their welfare within the context of Samaritan’s Purse operations
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • University degree in a relevant field such as international development, cross-cultural missions, public health, nursing, or business; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Financial and Project Management Experience
  • Working knowledge: sufficient familiarity with the subject to know basic principles and terminology and to understand and solve simple problems
  • Proficiency in common computer packages (e.g. Word, Excel) relevant to work
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required, but can be completed after hire)

Job Location: Beni, Trinidad, Bolivia

      Type:  Full-time

      Language Requirement: Fluency in English and **Spanish required**

      Accompaniment: Family Accompanied is possible

     Travel Expectations: This position requires domestic travel within Bolivia (boat) of approximately 135-175 days/year.
