We are seeking an Information Officer to join our office in Kyiv, Ukraine.  This position works under the guidance of the Grants Manager to prepare internal reports, design and implement a communications strategy, and highlight our work. You’ll be collaborating with other Ministry departments, such as Broadcast and Communications, to visit field sites, collect data, and capture stories to keep our leadership and donors up to date with what God is doing in Ukraine. A day in the life of an Information Officer in Ukraine:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 

 

In the role of Information Officer, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Gather information and conduct research to write regular situation reports updating the leadership team in the field and at International Headquarters (IHQ) on Samaritan’s Purse Ukraine programs and other issues
  • Provide timely, up to date, and accurate program figures and infographics
  • Frequently travels to field sites to encourage, train, and provide guidance to field staff, including staff workshops on photography skills, gathering impact stories, etc.
  • Assist field staff in writing and editing impact stories that reflect the full spectrum of Samaritan’s Purse programming in Ukraine and communicate the impact programs are having on beneficiaries and communities
  • Design and implement communications strategy
  • Train and prepare authorized Samaritan’s Purse staff prior to internal and external media interviews
  • Prepare visual design requests as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in journalism, communications, or a related field and one (1) to two (2) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience capturing photos for internal and external publications with a thorough knowledge about photography and needed technology
  • Experience living and working in a developing nation
  • Detail oriented with a strong ability to flex, adapt, and solve problems
  • Able to respect and work with church and community leaders from all denominations in a culturally sensitive way
  • General knowledge of common computer packages (e.g., Word, Excel) relevant to the work
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required but can be completed after hire)

 

Job Location: Kyiv, Ukraine

Type:  Full-Time

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); Ukrainian or Russian language skills would be beneficial

Travel Expectations: 50-80 days/annually; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
