Do you enjoy acting quickly to a situation while sourcing and managing inventory?  Then the Logistics Specialist, Operations & Strategic Sourcing position in our Projects Department, may be a way to use your talents for the Kingdom!  The position is responsible for the sourcing and inventory management of pre-positioned supplies to support disaster responses around the world.  The role also supports the International Disaster Response Unit (IDRU) by acting as the Incident Management Team (IMT) Logistics Coordinator for assigned disaster responses.  Come join the Team!

A day in the life of a Logistics Specialist, Operations & Strategic Sourcing:

In the role of Logistics Specialist, Operations & Strategic Sourcing, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Source and control inventory for assigned categories of pre-positioned disaster response supplies  
  • Develop and manage a network of reliable international vendors
  • Track pre-positioned supply orders from order placement to final delivery to the Wilkesboro warehouse
  • Schedule supplier visits as required
  • Serve as the Logistics Coordinator on the IMT when assigned, including:
    • Maintain on-call availability to respond to e-mails, phone calls, and messages from the IMT and the Disaster Response Team (DART)
    • Identify and coordinate the sourcing of ad hoc material required by the IMT/DART to support the response
    • Coordinate DC-8/757 flights and cargo load for each flight and domestic transportation in support of the response
    • Identify cargo that needs to move by sea container and coordinate the shipping process
    • Maintain all required logistics reporting
    • Provide logistics-related information to various stakeholders within the ministry
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • General knowledge of basic procurement and sourcing practices
  • Thorough knowledge of supply chain management practices
  • General knowledge of domestic and international commercial transportation
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to make prudent decisions with limited information
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management from a four-year college or university and three (3) or more years’ related work experience in international logistics, procurement, or freight forwarding; or an equivalent combination education and experience.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies

 

Job Location: North Wilkesboro, NC

Type:  Regular, Full-Time

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required)

Travel Expectations: Less than 10% domestic and international
