Summary

Samaritan’s Purse is responding to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those effected by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.We are seeking a Home Repair/Shelter Program Manager and Muck & Gut Team Assessor to oversee the assessment and management of all program activities, staff and volunteers relating to the shelter repair and construction on the island of Elbow Cay, Bahamas. You will have the opportunity to visit field sites, evaluate homeowner needs and provide spiritual encouragement! A day in the life of a Home Repair/Shelter Program Manager:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and then we join together to pray for one another, our staff and volunteers serving around the globe. 

In the role of Home Repair/Shelter Program Manager, you will:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Provide overall vision, management and leadership to Samaritan’s Purse activities in the Bahamas
  • Direct and oversee the shelter program within given budgets and project deadlines, ensuring that all program goals are met through proper planning, staffing, and implementation
  • Organize and direct the work of program staff and volunteers, providing supervision, training, and performance appraisals; ensuring quality work and results delivered on time
  • Visit potential job sites to document work to be done, tool and material needs, challenges, and safety concerns; Provide additional resources and information to the homeowner as available
  • Perform walk-throughs (general assessments, room by room, special considerations, mold assessments) and discuss expectations/realities with homeowners
  • Work with logistics and procurement departments to ensure appropriate construction materials are purchased, stored, and delivered to sites in a timely manner
  • Ensure on-time submission of monthly reports, both financial and programming, maintaining high integrity and transparency
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Construction Management or related experience  
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year college or university in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field of study
  • Proven management and leadership experience; Strong relational skills and financial management skills
  • Familiarity with construction management, and ability to comply with local and governmental requirements
  • Practical quick thinker who keeps communication lines open with all parties in program or scheduling changes
  • Experience serving/working internationally preferred
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability and ability to work with a diverse team in a pressured environment
  • Spiritually mature, focused on the spiritual well-being of your team and goal of sharing the Gospel
  • Fluency in English (required)
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required)
