Two-year contract

This is family accompanied position

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Build, train and develop the finance team
  • Plan and assign work to direct reports, appraise their performance, and resolve conflict
  • Ensure daily functions of field accounting
  • Review and approve financial transactions for Samaritan's Purse field operations in Uganda
  • Provide required monthly financial reports
  • Review and assist in the development of all budgets in close coordination with the Program Development Officer, Operations, and Program Managers
  • Ensure that all financial reporting obligations are met for funding, grant aid, contracts and any other initiatives
  • Identify areas for financial and administrative improvement
  • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff
  • Participate in daily morning devotions and in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers
  • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public

We ask that you bring:

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Agreement and compliance with the Samaritan's Purse statement of faith and policies
  • Spiritual maturity; ability to keep the focus of work on the overall goal of sharing the gospel
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Accounting or equivalent with two to four years related international work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • An accounting designation (i.e. CPA, ACCA, CFE) is helpful but not required
  • At least five years progressively responsible financial management experience in a complex, dynamic environment, nonprofit organization with operating budgets, diverse funding streams, and substantial financial and material assets
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people of different educational, linguistic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Experience working and living overseas; with ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to lead, manage and to contribute to the team; ability to delegate duties and give clear direction to the finance team
  • Proven administrative, leadership and management ability in the areas of strategic planning and organizational development
  • Ability to self-motivate, prioritize work, handle pressure with a level head
  • Experience with responsibility for financial information, including experience of external liaison with auditors
  • Ability to develop, monitor and maintain management information systems and procedures
  • Experience with foreign currencies and US Government / UN grants management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite-in particular, Excel
  • Impeccable attention to detail
