How do I apply for an open position?
To apply, use the job application link at the top or bottom of each job posting by either clicking “Apply” or “Apply with LinkedIn.” After completing the application, you will be prompted to create an account. This is necessary if you would like to check the status of your application(s). Allow at least an hour to complete the application process. Be prepared to provide details regarding your experience, education, references, and testimony
Will Samaritan’s Purse respond after I apply?
You will receive an auto-generated message when your resume/application has been submitted successfully. If you are invited for an interview, we will contact you directly via phone and/or email. Not all applicants are contacted for an interview. Open positions vary in the time it takes to fill as we place great emphasis on ministry and team fit, and are diligent to be prayerful in our search for the best-matched candidate. Status updates are not sent to applicants unless an interview has been scheduled or completed.
When does a posting close for applications?
We do not use closing dates in our recruiting process. Positions are available to fill immediately (unless otherwise stated) and remain so until filled by the best-matched qualified candidate.
How will I know when a position has been filled?
When a position is closed the job listing is removed from our website and you will receive an email notification. If you participated in an interview with Samaritan’s Purse, you will be contacted one way or the other as soon as the hiring decision has been made.
How often are positions updated on the website?
Changes are made to the website daily to keep the information accurate and up-to-date.
Do I need to submit my resume/application for each position if I am interested in more than one?
Yes, you need to apply for every position you are interested in. You may include one or more cover letters mentioning the position(s) you are interested in. Your information (resume/application) will remain active in our applicant database and can be searched for by our recruiters when new positions open that may be a match for your interests and qualifications.
How long will my application remain active?
Online job applications will always remain active and available to our recruiters. Please be sure to retain your login information during the application process.
How many people apply for positions posted on the website?
We may receive several hundred applications for a single position. In the course of a year, we receive several thousand new applications. We strive to make sure every qualified applicant is considered.
Do you provide salary information to potential applicants?
We generally do not discuss salary until an applicant is invited to interview. At that time, we are glad to discuss a range for the position. It is strongly advised that applicants list a desired salary or salary range on their application. This amount should be within your ability to consider the opportunity.
Do you offer relocation assistance for open positions?
Many of our domestic positions offer some relocation assistance. International field staff positions provide for relocation to the work location and many offer food and housing benefits. Our recruiter will discuss the details with you should you be interviewed.
Does Samaritan’s Purse offer work from home job opportunities?
We don’t typically offer work from home or telecommuting opportunities. During the Covid-19 crisis, Samaritan’s Purse has implemented a temporary telecommuting option for some positions in order to ensure a safe workplace environment.
What kind of person are you looking for to work at Samaritan’s Purse?
We seek Christians who have a vital relationship with Jesus Christ, a servant heart, and a sense of calling. We seek candidates with the appropriate skills and experience to succeed in the specific job and within the ministry. We place great emphasis on ministry and team fit, and are diligent to be prayerful in our search for the best-matched candidate.
Do I have to be a Christian to work at Samaritan’s Purse?
Samaritan’s Purse employs Christians from multiple denominations who agree with our Statement of Faith and who are called to carry on our mission to help the hurting around the world in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything we do at Samaritan’s Purse is directly or indirectly related to spreading the Gospel. Each employee is regarded as an ambassador of Jesus Christ in word and in deed.
Does Samaritan’s Purse hire applicants from other countries to work in the United States?
Samaritan’s Purse requires that applicants already have legal working status in the United States. We are not normally able to provide sponsorship for those seeking work visas or green cards. We are able, and do, place international applicants in some of our international field offices. Legal status to work in the United States is not required for international positions.
Why do some positions require college-level Biblical studies?
Samaritan’s Purse employs Christians called to carry on its mission with a solid Biblical foundation, allowing them to uphold our mission of sharing the Gospel. We believe Biblical studies is an important part of developing this foundation. Though this Biblical foundation is encouraged for all employees, we only require it for positions that require or prefer a four-year college degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. This Biblical studies requirement can be met in a number of ways depending on the colleges you attended and/or the coursework completed. We encourage you to include completed Biblical studies information on your application. We will take into consideration all the completed training and coursework information you provide as we review your application.
What is an Associate position?
Associate staff are hired to fill temporary operating needs within the ministry. These positions are vital to the work of the ministry, but are short-term assignments or seasonal projects.
Are Associate employees hired into full-time positions?
When an Associate assignment ends you are welcome to apply for an open position in which you are qualified. While working as an Associate does not guarantee consideration for other positions, it does offer you a chance to better understand the ministry work and gives us the opportunity to get to know you.
Are volunteer opportunities available?
In the United States and around the world, more than 100,000 dedicated volunteers sacrifice their time to work with us in ministering to the sick and suffering, building hospitals and churches, providing emergency relief to disaster survivors, and collecting and bringing shoebox gifts to hurting children—all in Jesus’ Name. Volunteer opportunities are available year-round. For more information, visit the Volunteer section on our website.
