Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:                       

  • Respond to callers who have general questions about Samaritan’s Purse, communicating with partners and prospective partners how they can participate with us in ministry. Make outgoing calls on behalf of the ministry.
  • Respond to written and electronic correspondence in a timely manner, following appropriate guidelines. Read and interpret donor requests; analyze needs; research projects information, donations, and previous communications in donor records; compose responses; and document conversations in donor records. Address inquiries thoroughly and offer clarity when necessary. 
  • Process and handle financial transactions and other donation issues, including credit card and banking information. Requires problem-solving approach to identify and resolve transaction and order errors.
  • Develop and convey relational perspective in all communications with donors and colleagues.

Maintain Familiarity with:

  • Current daily ministry issues and situations involving all ongoing ministry projects, donation and mailing list issues; special/seasonal responses including Christmas catalog; annual ministry report, festivals and crusades, and conferences; website news, offerings and navigation; and product availability.
  • Current topics in the media involving Samaritan's Purse to respond accurately and effectively to donor inquiries on the phone and by written correspondence.
  • Content of current and past SP and BIlly Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) periodicals, special mailings, books, media promotions, free offers, and "asks".
  • Mail and response procedures and IS form letters to effectively respond to donors requesting special acknowledgments.
  • Respond to correspondence (written and/or electronic) in a timely manner, following all Donor Ministry (DM) correspondence guidelines.  Position involves reading and interpreting donor requests; analyzing needs; researching projects information, donations, and previous communications in donor records; composing responses; and recording contact in donor record.

Periodic or Special Assignment Duties and Responsibilities may include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Read, sort, and respond to e-mails in the Info, Giving, E-Update and Projects inbox each day.  Forward responses to appropriate staff as indicated by the DM E-mail Procedure.  Print and maintain files for all completed e-mails.
  • Seasonal backup for sorting and distributing mail and reports from Data Entry to appropriate persons within the department.  Open, read, scan, log and determine handling of all incoming department mail, and distribute to appropriate staff member.  Update log as assignments are completed or reassigned.  Daily monitor and track correspondence and phoned-in donation trends through follow-up communications and report any areas of concern to Donor Ministries Response Manager. Maintain filing system for all donor correspondence, according to the Policy Retention Procedure.
  • May be asked to assist with donor events as a ministry representative.  
  • Process completed outgoing correspondence for department including quality checking and making needed copies.
  • Greet visitors to the ministry and lead tours of campus as requested.  Follow up with thank-you correspondence, information requests and contact documentation.
  • Complete all required reports and participate in all staff meetings as required.  Respond to seasonal needs, special assignments, and promotional campaigns.


Four year college or university program degree; and one to three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
