Summary:

This role is responsible for strategic direction, marketing and ministry-wide collaboration of organizational learning and employee development in support of Samaritan’s Purse mission and distinct objectives.  This position also manages external educational partnerships in support of Samaritan’s Purse talent management strategy. Domestic and international travel required up to 5 days annually.

Description of Job duties:

  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Lead a team accountable for overall planning, implementation, and effectiveness of professional development strategies and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the HR Management Team in assessing training and development opportunities, establishing realistic and measurable goals, and creating learning and development programs to meet those goals.
  • Oversee organization-wide learning initiatives and programs to address leadership and employee development needs.
  • Partner with departmental leadership to identify learning needs, analyze trends and to develop competency-based solutions.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with training professionals throughout Samaritan’s Purse.
  • Recommend and implements programs that effectively influence organizational culture in alignment with our mission.
  • Conduct training as required.
  • Manage the annual performance management process by training managers and ensuring the merit plan process is administered with excellence throughout Samaritan’s Purse.
  • Partner with managers to develop their team members through career pathing and succession planning. Maintain budgetary responsibility for Learning and Development. 
  • Develop and monitor spending against the departmental budget.
  • Core Competencies: build strategic partnerships, build trust, collaboration, customer focus, results oriented, tenacity and adaptability.

Job requirements:

  • Master’s degree in education, organizational effectiveness or instructional design; plus five (5) to seven (7) years of instructional design/curriculum development and corporate training experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires expertise in project/program management; thorough understanding of adult learning techniques and working knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office products.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises one supervisory employee and indirectly supervises two (2) non-supervisory employees.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
