Summary:

Samaritan’s Purse is responding to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those effected by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. We are seeking an Area Coordinator (AC) will serve as the senior representative for activities related to Samaritan’s Purse Bahamas’ response in a designated area while seeking to promote success of area-specific programming and staff development. The AC is an instrumental role in ensuring compassionate, professional, and efficient delivery of humanitarian services. A day in the life of an Area Coordinator:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and then we join together to pray for one another, our staff and volunteers serving around the globe. 

In the role of Area Coordinator, you will:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Responsible for leadership, direction, and oversight of programs for Bahamas response within designated area
  • Oversee operations, human resources, financial reporting, and community relations for programs in designated area
  • Work closely with Program Managers to build capacity and improve the technical quality of programming, encouraging the use of innovative and creative approaches for increased effectiveness
  • Ensure all programs are conducted in accordance with agreed work plans and budgets; maintaining adherence to SP, donor and statutory guidelines and policies
  • Work collaboratively with Program Managers and Program Development Officer to develop and set up new projects in line with Samaritan’s Purses’ in-country strategy and available opportunities, liaising with IHQ technical advisors when necessary
  • Assist in ensuring all reporting to Samaritan’s Purse Affiliate Offices, government, and donors is timely, accurate, appropriate, and of the highest quality
  • Assist in strategic development of the country program with program and budget proposals
  • May provide professional representation of Samaritan’s Purse at meetings with government, donor and civil society partners, actively and strategically engaging with stake holders to increase support and publicity for SP Programming
  • Assist the Deputy Country Director in oversight of day to day operations, including hosting teams and visitors
  • Assist the Deputy Country Director in fostering spiritual support, encouragement, and growth among all staff

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in multi-sector programs
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year college or university, preferably in Business, Economics, Health and Nutrition, Food Security, WASH, or related field
  • Extensive humanitarian field experience in management role with the ability to lead large cross-cultural teams
  • Clear understanding of the workings of major donors and their perspectives, requirements, and standards
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Attention to detail, anticipation and follow through are key for this role
  • Flexibility, adaptability and ability to work with a diverse team in a pressured environment
  • Spiritually mature, focused on the spiritual well-being of your team and goal of sharing the Gospel
  • Ability to travel to field sites to monitor projects
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required)

Samaritan's Purse Mission Statement:
