As a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization, Samaritan's Purse provides physical and spiritual aid to hurting people throughout the world in over 100 countries. Our ministry projects include International Disaster Relief, Operation Christmas Child, U.S. Disaster Relief, World Medical Mission, Children's Heart Project and Operation Heal Our Patriots.

The Legal Department provides support to our domestic and international staff to ensure that we serve with excellence and integrity. Our ministry engages in activities that involve various legal needs in the areas of aviation law, corporate law, copyright and trademark law, employment law, immigration law, international human rights law, data privacy law, real estate law, religious liberty law and tax law.

The right individual for this position may not have a background in the law or be well versed in legal terms. However, to be highly effective, this individual needs to serve with humility and enjoy learning. Each day can bring new matters, new laws, new procedures and procedures. The ability to manage changing priorities based on the needs of the ministry is essential. An administrative assistant in this department will interactive with a wide range of clients- internally and externally-and must demonstrate professionalism in his or her communications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage and administer Legal Department electronic documents and files through a departmental matter management software program, including setting up new matters, adding data to existing projects, and attending to the workflow of departmental projects.
  • Manage and maintain legal department paper files and documents including managing the electronic log, adding new files and managing document storage.
  • Coordinate international non-governmental registration process, including obtaining document authentications and apostille applications through the NC Secretary of State, US Department of State, and appropriate Embassy or Consulate.  Process may include translations and notarizations. 
  • Serve as primary administrative support for the Associate Counsel and Staff Attorney, including travel planning and itineraries, travel authorizations, expense reimbursements, correspondence, and administrative communications.
  • Prepare legal applications and filings to be submitted to government agencies after approval by counsel.
  • Support department in handling general administrative duties, such as assisting visitors, answering phones and routing information and requests.
  • Monitor and maintain supply inventory, order new supplies, and act as Legal Department inventory contact for periodic reviews. 

Skills required - Requires careful and professional attention to detail, superior organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment. Must maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.

Job requirements:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent; and three or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
