Job Description

Samaritan’s Purse International Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) program is committed to meeting the critical needs of victims of war, poverty, famine, disease and natural disaster while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. We stand ready to respond at a moment’s notice whenever and wherever disaster strikes. The DART program is composed of on-call, readily available professionals trained to respond within a complex international environment.

As deployments occur with little or no warning, DART members must have a flexible schedule and availability to deploy. A high level of prior humanitarian experience in delivering quality programming in an austere environment is desired. DART members can be deployed to dangerous places, the living conditions can be challenging and the work days long and hard. However, Samaritan’s Purse believes in being the first on the ground in order to serve and help those who have suffered through a catastrophic event in the name of Jesus Christ.

Our staff exude the spirit of flexibility and adaptability and may serve in a number of different roles and contexts depending on the response.

Job requirements:

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • 1-2 years professional experience in an international context or disaster response management desired.
  • Demonstrated travel, volunteer or work experience in developing countries.
  • Mentors co-workers by providing training and supervision as required.
  • Available on short notice for immediate 2-4 week deployment.
  • Ability to serve 7 days/week for extended hours while on deployment.
  • Available to serve up to 2-3 times/year.
  • Willingness to work in unstable, insecure areas.
  • Exudes an attitude of flexibility and adaptability in challenging circumstances.

Samaritan's Purse Mission Statement:

Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the Church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Samaritan's Purse Statement of Faith:

* We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.  (1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17)

* We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.   (Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 4:4-6)
