Recruitment Process

How do I apply for an open position?
To apply for any open position use the link to the online job application at the bottom of each job posting. If you haven't already you will be asked to create an applicant profile. If you already have a profile you will be prompted to log in. We recommend you allow yourself an hour to complete the job application process. Be prepared to provide details regarding your experience, education, references and testimony. For additional instructions, please click HERE.

How will I hear back from Samaritan’s Purse after I apply?
You will receive an auto-generated message when your application has been submitted successfully. You will also receive an email acknowledging your application once the recruiting team has completed an initial screening of your application. If and when you are invited for an interview, we will follow up with you directly via phone and/or email. Not all applicants are contacted for an interview. Open positions vary in time to fill as we place great emphasis on ministry fit and team fit, and are diligent to be prayerful in our search for the best-matched candidate. Status updates are not sent to applicants unless an interview has been scheduled or completed.

Is there a date when the posting will close for applications?
We do not use closing dates within our recruiting process. Positions are available to fill immediately (unless otherwise stated) and remain so until filled by the best-matched qualified candidate. We are prayerful about our hiring decisions and wait for guidance and direction in every situation.

Do I need to complete multiple job applications in order to be considered for more than one job?
One job application is sufficient. You may include one or more cover letters mentioning the position(s) you are interested in. Your application will remain active in our applicant database. You will be able to log-in and access your online application to update it and apply for new opportunities at any time.

How long will my job application be kept active?
Online job applications will always remain active and available to our recruiters. You may update your information at any time by logging into your employment account on our website. Please be sure to retain your login information during the application process. Please allow at least 24 hours before making changes to your submitted on-line application.

How will I know when a position has been filled?
When a position is closed the job listing will be removed from our website. If you participated in an interview with a Samaritan’s Purse staff member you will be contacted directly one way or the other as soon as the hiring decision has been made.

How often are open positions updated on the website?
Changes are made on a daily basis to keep the information accurate and up-to-date.

Do you provide salary information to potential applicants?
We generally do not discuss salaries until an applicant is invited to interview. At that time we are happy to discuss a range for the position. It is strongly advised that applicants list a desired salary or salary range on their application. This amount should be within your ability to consider the opportunity.

How many people apply for the positions posted on the website?
We may receive several hundred applications for a single position. In the course of a year, we receive several thousand new applications. We strive to make sure every qualified applicant is considered.

What kind of person are you looking for to work at Samaritan’s Purse?
We seek Christians who have a vital relationship with Jesus Christ, who have a servant heart, and a sense of calling. We are seeking candidates with the appropriate skills and experience to succeed in the specific job and within the ministry. We place great emphasis on ministry fit and team fit, and are diligent to be prayerful in our search for the best-matched candidate.

General Questions

  Are volunteer opportunities available?
In the US and around the world more than 100,000 dedicated volunteers sacrificed their time to work with us in ministering to the sick and suffering, building hospitals and churches, providing emergency relief to disaster survivors, and collecting and bringing shoe box gifts to hurting children – all in the Name of Jesus Christ. Volunteer opportunities are available year-round. For more information about volunteering for Operation Christmas Child, Disaster Response & Relief, Rebuild & Construction, and other areas, please visit our Volunteer section on our website.

What is Samaritan's Purse’s relationship with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association?
We share the same President and CEO, Franklin Graham; however, we remain distinctly separate ministries, but share the same goals and objectives of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth. Employment at Samaritan’s Purse

Do I have to be a Christian to work at Samaritan’s Purse?
Samaritan’s Purse employs Christians from multiple denominations who agree with our Statement of Faith and who are called to carry on our mission to help the hurting around the world in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything we do at Samaritan’s Purse is directly or indirectly related to spreading the Gospel. Each employee is regarded as an Ambassador of Jesus Christ in word and in deed.

Does Samaritan’s Purse hire applicants from other countries to work in the United States?
Samaritan’s Purse does require that applicants already have legal working status in the United States. We are not normally able to provide sponsorship for those seeking work visas or green cards. We are able, and do, place international applicants in some of our international field offices. Legal status to work in the U.S. is not required for international positions. If you are a citizen of Canada, United Kingdom, or Australia you can link to their respective websites from the top right corner of our homepage.

  What is an Associate position?
Associate staff are hired to fill temporary operating needs within the ministry. These positions are vital to the work of the ministry, but are for short-term assignments or seasonal projects.

What are the chances of an Associate employee being hired into a Regular position at Samaritan’s Purse?
When an Associate assignment ends you are welcome to apply for an open position in which you are qualified. While working as an Associate does not guarantee consideration for other positions, it does offer you a chance to better understand the ministry work and gives us the chance to get to know you. You may view the Samaritan’s Purse open positions postings to find out more about opportunities around the world.

Why do some positions require college-level biblical studies?
Samaritan’s Purse employs Christians called to carry on the mission of Samaritan’s Purse with a solid biblical foundation allowing them to uphold our mission of sharing the Gospel. We believe biblical studies to be an important part of developing this foundation. Though this biblical foundation is encouraged for all employees, we only require it for positions that require or prefer a 4-year college degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. This biblical studies requirement can be met in a number of ways depending on the colleges you attended and/or the coursework completed. We encourage you to include completed biblical studies information on your application. We will take into consideration all of the completed training and coursework information you provide as we review your entire application.

Does Samaritan’s Purse offer work from home job opportunities?
We don’t typically offer work from home or telecommuting opportunities.

Does Samaritan’s Purse offer relocation assistance for open positions?
Many of our US domestic positions offer some relocation assistance. International field staff positions provide for relocation to the work location and many offer food and housing benefits. Our recruiter will discuss the details with you should you be interviewed.
