ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Base management:

  • Work with the landlords at both operating bases ensuring all facilities remain in good repair and safe for occupancy according to the leases of the property including all physical structures such as housing, offices, storage, and any other building and support systems such as the well, water pipes and all plumbing fixtures; the electrical infrastructure; appliance repair; and other areas as the arise within the facilities leased to SP.
  • Maintain, manage and control the operating bases’ budget, including food purchases, kitchen, office, and janitorial supplies, building maintenance, property and ground supplies, equipment maintenance and repair, contract labor, and other areas in coordination with logistics, maintenance, and communication support staff.
  • Supervise the kitchen staff -- ensuring the provision of quality food and the maintenance of hygienic food preparation and service areas.
  • Oversee the staff that perform janitorial and laundry service.
  • Build staff capacity - work with the staff to train and develop their capacity in their assigned roles, in teamwork, conflict resolution and support their spiritual growth.
  • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers.
  • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries and the general public.
  • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of the national staff to the Area Coordinator and Country Director.

Logistics management:

  • To oversee all aspects of procurement, storage, fleet management and communications.
  • To design improved systems where necessary.
  • Create policies or procedures for logistics activities.
  • Manage all vehicles and drivers at both the base locations.
  • Frequent travel to other parts of the region and country to identify potential suppliers of materials, goods and services. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Deputy Country Director

QUALIFICATIONS

  • International disaster relief background strongly encouraged
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Above average communication skills - English verbal and written

  • Ability to keep the focus of work on the overall goal of sharing the gospel
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people of different educational, linguistic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.  
  • Strong relational skills and financial management experience preferred.
  • Proven management and leadership experience.
  • Diplomacy, negotiating skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum 5 years of management experience, preferably in a disaster location; Experience working in Haitian contexts; Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field desirable; French/Creole  language skills a plus. Water, sanitation, construction, experience a plus. Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents, Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  English required; French/Creole language skills, preferred but not necessary.
